Narendranath Datta who popularly known as Swami Vivekananda born on 12 January 1863 a chief disciple of the 19th-century Indian mystic Ramakrishna paramahamsa. He is best known for his speech which began with the words – Sisters and brothers of America at 1893 in Chicago. In last one century, hundreds of scholarly books have been written on Vivekananda, his works and his philosophy in different languages. He was a key figure in the introduction of the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world.
Vivekananda spent nearly two years lecturing in the eastern and central United States, primarily in Chicago, Detroit, Boston, and New York. He founded the Vedanta Society of New York in 1894. Nationalism was a prominent theme in Vivekananda thought. He believed that a country’s future depends on its people, and his teachings focused on human development.
